What is the one quality that we must have in these last days?

Patient Endurance: ὑπομονή (hupomoné)

  1. steadfastness, constancy, endurance; in the N. T. the characteristic of a man who is unswerved from his deliberate purpose and his loyalty to faith and piety by even the greatest trials and sufferings: Luke 8:15; Luke 21:19; Romans 5:3; Romans 15:4; 2 Corinthians 6:4; 2 Corinthians 12:12; Colossians 1:11; 2 Thessalonians 1:4; 1 Timothy 6:11; 2 Timothy 3:10; Titus 2:2; Hebrews 10:36; James 1:3; James 5:11; 2 Peter 1:6; Revelation 2:2f, 19; Revelation 13:10; Revelation 14:12; with a genitive of the thing persevered in Romans 2:7; patiently and steadfastly, Romans 8:25; Hebrews 12:1.
  2. a patient, steadfast waiting for; the return of Christ from heaven, 2 Thessalonians 3:5; Revelation 1:9; (cf. Psalm 38:8 (); for מִקְוֶה, expectation, hope, Jeremiah 14:8; Jeremiah 17:13; for תִּקְוָה, hope, Ps. (Job 14:19); for תּוחֶלֶת, Proverbs 10:28,
  3. a patient enduring, sustaining:, 2 Corinthians 1:6

Used 6 places in Revelation: 1:9, 2:2, 2:19, 3:10, 13:10, 14:12 The first case John uses of himself, the next three Yeshua commends the congregations for their patient endurance, and the last 2 are used as an encouragement and as a literary device to show what and when we will need the most patient endurance. – Go read it, the Scriptures will be on the congregations Website.

But how does this all apply to the Torah portion, Ki Tisa, Exodus 30 – 34?

[Read 32:1-14]

What do we see the Children of Israel doing in Ch. 32:1? What was their attitude?

In what role did Aaron act in vs. 2-4? And what was the result in vs 5-6?

What had ADONAI been telling Moses during this whole time? In how many ways did the Children of Israel substitute their own creation for what ADONAI was planning? In their impatience they had created ADONAI in their own image, worshiped their own saviour, and many missed out on the intimacy that ADONAI was trying to offer them. The intimacy was promised, the very presence of ADONAI in their midst, but their impatience caused them to break covenant with ADONAI.

This same reason was the reason for missing Yeshua when He first came. He was not doing what they thought the Messiah should do, when they thought the Messiah should do it. John 11:45-50 Even the disciples were hoping for more from Yeshua when He was there. Acts 1:6-8

Do not be fooled. The same will be true prior to the return of Yeshua. “Many will come in My name saying ‘I am he’” If we do not wait with patient endurance for the coming of Yeshua on the clouds, then we are liable to fall for another – messiah, one who fits the image we have in our mind of Him. Remember the parable of the Wise vs. Foolish Virgins? (Matt 25:1-12) What was the only difference between the two groups? . . . Is it not that one group was willing and prepared to wait a lot longer than the other group?

In this above parable and in the story of Moses, what was the reward for humbly waiting for the presence of ADONAI ?
