Although Emily Emanuel grew up in a secular home, she always believed in God – yet, she didn’t want anything to do with religion. After being rebellious throughout her teens and early twenties, she was desperately seeking guidance and forgiveness. Emily’s grandmother was a follower of Jesus and always talked to Emily about Him. Eventually, Emily decided to go to church. There, not only did she find a message of forgiveness and proof of God’s love, but also the bridge between God and people – the Jewish Messiah, Jesus of Nazareth. In the Messiah, she also found a foundation for her Jewish identity.
